Young people are being encouraged to get registered before a busy year of voting.
Those under 30 account for 20 per cent of the electorate.
Ahead of the upcoming referendums and the local and European elections this year, they and especially the 70 thousand people who've turned 18 in the past year, are being urged to register.
The National Youth Council of Ireland's Paul Gordon has this advice:
"Young people under 30 are potentially a very important and influential group in these elections and referendums, so we feel it's very important that young people do exercise their right to vote. And if they want to be able to vote on those events, they need to register to vote by the 20th of February at 5pm.
