Cork City Council failed to issue a single fine for dog fouling in 17 months.
The Irish Examiner report that the Council, along with Tipperary County Council, didn't issue any fines between January of 2020 and May 2021.
Overall in Munster just 33 fines for dog fouling were issued, while 3,000 litter fines were issued.
In response Cork City Council said that it was almost impossible for fines to be issued for dog fouling offences, as the litter warden must witness the dog fouling actually happening, along with the person in control of the dog neglecting to remove it.
