Uisce Éireann say it has found no evidence of any discharges from a wastewater plant in West Cork.

It’s after a No Swim Notice was issued at Warren Beach due to the discovery of high levels of E.coli in the water.

The discovery has led to calls to upgrade the local wastewater treatment, however Uisce Éireann say it is required to reports all discharge incidents to the Environmental Protection Agency and has found no evidence of any discharges in recent days that could have impacted water quality at Warren Beach.

The company says factors such as overflow from wastewater collection systems, runoff from roads, agriculture and forestry, discharges from septic tanks, animal waste as well as leaks and spills all contribute to water quality.

Local TD Christopher O'Sullivan raised concern the No Swim Notice would impact tourism in the region.
