The amount of homes in the city using oil for heating has nearly doubled since 2016.
While over half of homes in the county rely on oil for heating.
The analysis of CSO data from 2011 to 2022 by Liquid Gas Ireland shows coal is still used by 4 percent of households in Cork, and 566 homes use peat as their primary heating source.
Those aged 65 and older, living alone, are particularly reliant on high carbon fuels.
