"Cork is such a big county that we would advise all motors using our road network to travel with you care and just allow extra time for your journeys as there may be difficult conditions in different parts of the country."
City Council Engineer David Joyce says rain, sleet and snow is expected across Cork until midday today:
"So this morning, as predicted, there is a very inclement weather. There is very heavy precipitation. So whether that be rain or sleet, depending on the part of the city that you are in, there may be even some snow and higher grounds or in sheltered areas."
Meanwhile, the orange weather alert hasn't affected flights at Cork Airport. Yesterday the airports Airport Snow & Ice team treated airside surfaces at the airport such as the apron, taxiways and main runways to ensure disruption to operations remains at a minimum.
