Cork selector Diarmuid O'Sullivan has praised the character shown by the Rebels players yesterday.

They booked their place in the All Ireland Hurling Championship final for the first time since 2013 yesterday after an epic extra time win over Kilkenny, Kieran Kingston's side winning by five points - 1-37 to 1-32 in Croke Park.

It sets up a final clash with Munster rivals and reigning champions Limerick on August 22nd.

Speaking to RedFM sport after yesterday's game, the Rock says the performances put in by the players yesterday were incredible.

"We'd gone 6 up, they'd gone 6 up, it was incredible from both sets of players. The effort, the commitment, the scoring, the physicality - everything you'd expect from a Cork and Kilkenny game was laid bare to everyone there over the 90 minutes.

"They had their swing, we had our swing. Great credit is due to our lads, that goal at the death could have finished us -  a lot of teams would have come out and just crumbled.

"We've been asking this team to be different and show character - and  I think we got different for the last 20 minutes."

Patrick Horgan scored 15 points yesterday, 6 of those from play. His Glen Rovers club mate and Cork legend Seanie McGrath told RedFM Sport that Horgan is one of the all time greats.

"He was down the field the other night, we were training on Wednesday night and he's just one of the lads, he just takes it in his stride.

"He was on camera after the game and you could say he didn't even look like a fella who'd just played in an All Ireland semi final - he was just so calm.

"His scores particularly in the first half when we weren't firing, he got four from play in the first half and his frees were brilliant.

"And then coming down the stretch when we needed a score to settle us, who better than Patrick to get possession and clipping the ball over off his left.

"He was absolutely outstanding. He's been brilliant, and  to be associated with the Glen is absolutely brilliant.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him lead out the team in the All Ireland Final in two week's time."
