Overcrowding records have been broken at Cork University Hospital where 94 people are being treated on trolleys today
The Irish Nurse and Midwives Organisation says the high numbers on trolleys are leading to very dangerous situations for patients and nurses who are trying their best to provide safe care.
The union is calling on hospital management to de-escalate the number of patients being admitted on trolleys and for the immediate cancellation of all non-urgent elective procedures to help ease the pressure on nursing staff
The INMO says the aim has to be to reduce the number of patients on trolleys across the hospital as patient and nurse safety and wellbeing must be a priority
