A man charged in relation to an incident where a phone was stolen from a teenage French girl on a school tour in Cork City is due back in court in September.

29-year-old Adam Corcoran of John Barry House, Midleton, County Cork first appeared in the District Court last week alongside his partner and co-accused 27-year-old Daena Walsh who lives at the same address.

Detective Garda Conor Cronin previously told the court one teenager from a group of French students on a school tour of Ireland had her phone taken by a woman, after a man and woman approached the group on Patrick Street at around twenty past ten on the night of Tuesday July 23rd.

Detective Cronin also said a man struck a teacher up to ten times in the upper body with a screwdriver when he became involved.

Adam Corcoran and Daena Walsh are charged with robbery and Sgt Dave Delea said last week that Corcoran may face other more serious charges in relation to the incident.

The pair are due in court again on the 26th of September.
