The parents of a man who died violently have taken comfort in being able to lay him to rest.

Kieran Quilligan's body was found following a search of a scrubland near Whitegate after he went missing last September.

Two men were charged with his murder earlier this week.

At his funeral mass yesterday, Father John Walsh said Mr Quilligan died "the victim of a brutal act"

Meanwhile, Kathleen Quilligan, the mother of the deceased, said that her “superhero” of a son was always a "character."

A cremation service followed the mass for Kieran Quilligan at the Island Crematorium in Ringaskiddy.
