Parents of teenagers on the north and south sides of the city are calling on each other to be vigilant of organised fights.

It comes as gangs made up of fifteen and sixteen year olds from both sides of the city have been meeting up to brawl in recent weeks.

There's been calls for Gardaí to increase patrols before someone gets seriously injured.

Councillor Mick Finn says some parents don't know that their children are involved in the fights:

"These parents are saying to other parents to be vigilant to try and find out. We know where your teens are. These things happen at weekends late at night and you know, are late evenings in kind of secluded spots that are well known. And you know, I think a lot of parents don't maybe know that these things are happening until a week or two later and that was certainly the case in a number of texts that I got this morning."
