The temporary closure of Cork Airport has put some people off international travel, according to a Cork travel agent.

Tom Randles from J. Barter Travel in the city centre says they're expecting a boost in inquiries from people in the lead up to the reopening of the airport on November 22nd.

The Airport hosted it's last passengers ten days ago to allow for the reconstruction of the main runway, parts of which were almost 30 years old and had reached the end of their usable life.

Speaking to RedFM News, Tom Randles says some people are reluctant to travel to Dublin Airport.

"I suppose a lot of our clients who go away in October or November are reluctant to go to Dublin, so they say they'll wait until spring time.

"It's really unfortunate that it's coincided with the opening up of travel.

"December can't come quick enough. Hopefully Ryanair and Aer Lingus will get a lot of schedules into Cork, which will help Cork grow once again."
