People in the city say pay phones should have a cash option.
It comes as Eir is applying to the City Council to replace their old phone boxes with new kiosk style digital payphones.
There are currently 15 pay phone boxes in the city centre.
Speaking to RedFM news, these people say elderly people need a cash option:
"They should stay for people that don't use mobile phones like us older people. Well I use a mobile phone but if yours is broken then you would need them."
"I think some should stay, for people that only use cash, elderly people, like myself."
