Irish Rail expect this weekend to be extremely busy due to All Ireland Semi- Finals in Croke Park, with people taking trains from Cork, Kilkenny. Limerick and Waterford.
Under current Covid guidlines trains across the country are limited to operating with just 75 percent of their usual capacity.
Iarnród Éireann have put extra services from Kent to Heuston station in place specifically for the GAA match are advising those travelling for other reasons to book in advance of the busy service.
Speaking to RedFM news Barry Kenny from Corporate Communications, Iarnród Éireann says booking is essential:
"We very much urge people who are planning to travel on intercity services this weekend, including on the car to Dublin roof, you must book your travel in advance, it's obviously a very busy weekend. So already, there's a number of trains. sold out notably on Sunday morning whether you're travelling with earning or for another reason that you must book that travel and events that Irish rail. That measure is in place to ensure that we can control and manage that capacity that's available at the moment.
