Awards for personal injury insurance claims are set to be reduced.
The Judicial Council has agreed to revise award guidelines which will pave the way for lower insurance pay-outs in the future.
However, some business owners and groups such as ISME and the Irish Hotels Federation, say the reductions don’t go far enough.
CEO of Supermacs, Pat McDonagh, says the legal costs of a court case are still too high.
"There's a lot of talk about white collar crime at the moment; this is the greatest white collar crime in the country.
"The whole laws have been manipulated by the legal profession to suit themselves.
"The second thing that I would like to see done is that legal costs need to be reduced.
"I don't think it's going to have any massive effect - it's a help, but it's not really where we need to be."
