Pharma giant Lilly has announced the official opening of a 725 million euro manufacturing facility in Kinsale.
The site manufactures diabetes and obesity medications, with over 2,000 people employed in Cork in total.
The US company says the Kinsale facility is pivotal to mainataining a safe and reliabale supply of its medications and the site will help to meet demand for current and future treatments.
Lilly has been in Ireland for almost 50 years and has quadrupled it’s staff levels since 2019- it also owns the largest privately owned solar farm in Ireland in Kinsale, which covers 26 acres and powers a significant portion of the facility.
Lilly has also announced a 900 million euro expansion of it’s manufacturing site in Limerick in a move that is expected to create hundreds of jobs.
The company says the expansion will create 150 jobs including engineers, scientists, quality assurance and operations personnel.
