The body of a man in his 30s was recovered from the water off the Old Head of Kinsale on Tuesday.
Kinsale RNLI recovered the man's body at around 3:40pm.
A post mortem is due to take place at Cork University Hospital.
Garda Press say the results of the post mortem will determine the course of their investigation.
