One in ten single parent households could not afford to pay for school trips or school events for their children.
That compares with 2% of two parent households, according to figures from the CSO.
Its child deprivation survey for 2021 shows four in ten households, that rent, could not afford a one week holiday away from home for their children, five times the rate for those who own their homes.
In just over 4% of households, parents were unable to afford new clothes for their children, while in over 10% of households, parents were unable to afford new clothes for themselves.
