2 year old boy among 8 dead in NY floods

A two year old boy is among at least 8 people who’ve died after flash floods in the North East of the USA.

The remains of Storm Ida have been battering multiple states, and smashed rainfall records in both New York City and Newark.

Footage on social media shows New York tube stations filling up with cascading waters.

CNN meteorologist Pedram Javaheri says Flash Flood Emergency pings have been sent to New Yorkers for the first time.

“The difference from a warning is that floods are imminent or occurring,  flash flood emergencies mean water rescues are taking place, and it’s catastrophic flooding that is occurring.”
