225 people were rescued by RNLI crews in Cork last year

The Echo reports the eight lifeboat stations around the Cork Coast responded to 152 incidents in 2021.

A spokesperson for the volunteer lifeboat service told the paper that the figure represented a 30% increase compared to 2020.

Nationally the RNLI and Coastguard responded to 1,100 incidents in 2021.
