35 millimeters of rain recorded in north Cork town

35 millimeters of rain was recorded in Mallow earlier today, following thundery downpours.

Torrential rain caused a “considerable amount of damage” yesterday in Castlerea in County Roscommon.

Local councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice says around 15 businesses were damaged:

“There was a lot of flash flooding and lots of premises in the town got flooded, some through the doors, some through the roof systems couldn’t take the amount of water that came and there was a considerable amount of damage done.”
