Asteroid Safely Passes Earth Overnight – In One Of Closest Encounters Ever Recorded
Last updated on
An asteroid has safely passed by Earth overnight, in one of the closest encounters ever recorded.
NASA insists the space rock – about the size of an elephant – had no chance of hitting the planet though.
And even if it came too close, scientists say most of it would burn up in the atmosphere.
The asteroid – known as 2023 BU – was projected to zoom 2,200 miles above the southern tip of South America.
