Category 4 Hurricane On Track For A Potentially Devastating Landfall On The Louisiana Coast This Afternoon
A Category 4 hurricane is on track for a potentially devastating landfall on the Louisiana coast this afternoon.
Ida is set to bring winds reaching up to 140 miles per hour, with torrential downpours dumping up to 20 inches of rain.
It comes exactly 16 years since New Orleans was devastated by Katrina.
Louisiana’s governor, John Bel Edwards, insists they’re more organised this time:
“We have a Hurricane Risk Reduction System in place that we didn’t have before. And outside of that Hurricane Risk Reduction System, we also have tremendous investments in protection across South Louisiana with levees and gates, and pumps.”
