The Chairperson of the Irish Medical Organisation GP Sub Committee thinks the winter booster is very important.
Dr Denis McCauley says getting the booster at the right time is a good idea.
The number of people in hospital with the virus rose by 42 yesterday to 947.
He says even getting the shot now will benefit people if there’s a winter Covid wave:
“I think the whole concept of the boosters is that they continue the protection. And I think that’s the way to look at it. Now, the timing of that is important. We do think that if somebody has their booster now, they still can get their booster for that winter protection. I think, we’re still in the middle of a wave. Is it going to end soon? We don’t know”.
