Charlie Bird says being diagnosed with motor neuron disease has “upended his whole life”
The former RTE journalist first noticed symptoms on St Patrick’s Day this year.
The 73 year old says his mobility hasn’t been affected – but his speech has been.
Charlie Bird says it’s been a difficult diagnosis to take:
“… yes I’m scared. Over the last period I’ve cried sometimes. But listen, everybody goes through a difficult period. But the the one positive thing is that I’ve had amazing support from my mates, colleagues and they now have carried me.”
