Childline recruiting volunteers to answer calls in Cork

Childline are recruiting volunteers to answer calls in Cork.

The service provided by ISPCC is available 247 to any child and young person across Ireland who would like to talk about any topic on their mind.

People interested in helping the charity would be asked to take calls or messages from children who need assistance or advice, and volunteers would do a four hour shift each week after completing online training lasting 12 weeks.

Speaking to RedFM News, Service Manager for the ISPCC in Cork, Aoife Griffin says volunteers from all walks of life are encouraged to sign up:

“Everybody and anybody can volunteer for Childline. You don’t have to have a qualification. You just have to have I suppose an interest in listening to children and a compassion and an empathy for what children might be experiencing. So you could be a student who wants to gain some experience in working with children. You could be someone who’s just newly retired and looking for a way to give back to you know, you really don’t have to have any prior experience.”
