City Councillor Proposes Vacant Sites Be Temporarily Used To Create Green And Public Spaces
A City Councillor has proposed that vacant sites in the city centre be temporarilary used to create green and public spaces – as they await redevelopment.
These so called ‘meanwhile uses’ including cultural, creative, and community projects.
Today’s Echo is reporting that councillor John Maher put forward a motion calling on the local authority to “address the dereliction of the city’s quay areas, including Patrick’s Quay”.
The most recent City Development Plan supports ‘meanwhile uses’ for vacant commercial buildings and sites – once they add to the quality and character of the local neighbourhood.
