Clonakilty may be without Christmas lights this Winter

Christmas lights in Clonakilty may not happen this year.
The Echo report that that Cork County Council will no longer be directly responsible for the lights, instead giving a €10,000 grant in order for businesses and residents to look after the lights themselves.
However it’s believed this is less than a third of what is needed to run the lights in the west Cork town.
A similar scheme was introduced in Skibbereen last year.
