Coast Guard, RNLI And Water Safety Ireland Ask People To Be Careful In Water This Weekend
The Coast Guard, RNLI and Water Safety Ireland are asking people to be careful in the water this weekend.
With temperatures rising to 24 degrees, water temperatures are still cold.
The Coast Guard is advising people to always have a way of calling for help and to stay within reach at all times.
Gerard O’ Flynn Irish Coast Guard Operations Manager says people need to plan before going into the water:
“Most people are very familiar with the very fine weather. So I’d say to people to plan for their own personal safety, no matter what activity they’re engaging in, be it on the water or on the coast. We will appeal to swimmers to take note that the sea temperature is still relatively cold and for people who are getting in for the first time, don’t expect it to be as warm as it might be in August.”
