Community wardens picketing outside City Hall are engaged in a work to rule in a row over the evaluation of their roles

Community Wardens have been employed in RAPID areas of the City since August 2008 to work with local communities to improve the physical environment through education, enforcement and local community actions

SIPTU says the City Council has refused to engage in an evaluation of the roles these workers carry out

Speaking to RedFM News SIPTU’s Con Casey says he believes the dispute could be resolved if the Council agree to attend the Labour Court:

“Ballot, just as a matter of record, is for industrial action up to and including strike which is full withdrawal from all labour. We hope it doesn’t come to that conclusion or that situation but our members have been balloted accordingly.”
