Cork Airport is on schedule to re-open on November 22nd
The reconstruction of the main runway is now past the half way stage as engineers say the fastest large scale construction project undertaken by the State in recent years has now reached a significant milestone
Cork Airport temporarily closed in mid September to allow for the 10 week runway works as part of a €40 million investment to upgrade and enhance critical infrastructure at the airport up to 2022 .
In a video posted on social media by Cork Airport Brian Culloty, head of airside infrastructure and resident engineer, said that 95% of the new ducting and manhole systems to be installed adjacent to runway 16/34 to facilitate the new airfield ground lighting circuits have been installed.
