Cork Airport positive about the future
Cork Airport say they expect this summer to go a long way towards getting passenger numbers back on track following the pandemic.
The airport was the fastest growing in Ireland before the outbreak of Covid and was expecting to host over 2,600,000 passengers in 2020.
However just 790,000 passengers passed through the terminal during the entire of that year and last year.
It’s expected to be a very busy summer season for aviation across the globe due to pent up demand.
Speaking to RedFM News, Communications Manager at Cork Airport Barry Holland says they are feeling very positive about the future.
“Summer schedule 2022 kicked off last Sunday, we have 41 routes served by 8 airliners, and that’s running until late summer and into early autumn.
“It’s looking very positive for the airport. The sector, and particularly us here at Cork Airport, we have experienced a very difficult two years over the course of the pandemic.
“We were one of the hardest hit sectors, and hopefully we will be able to bounce back out of that this year.”
