Cork broadcaster Elaine Crowley supports Talking Depression campaign

A well-known broadcaster from Cork is lending her support to a campaign to encourage people to have open conversations about severe depression.

Elaine Crowley lives with depression and is taking part in the Talking Depression campaign which aims to give advice to people about how to find the right support for the condition.

The Little Book of Big Conversations has been co-created by Janssen to support people living with all forms of depression, their family members, and friends.

Ireland has one of the highest rates of mental illness in Europe, with an estimated 150,000 people living with severe depression every year.

Speaking to RedFM News, Elaine Crowley outlines what the book offers.

“It’s a guidebook on how to help somebody who you think may be suffering, because I don’t think there’s a lot of practical advice out there.

“There’s a lot of advice for people who may be suffering from depression themselves or suffering from anxiety themselves. But when it comes to actually helping the people around them, there’s not many resources.

“So that’s why the Little Book of Big Conversations is really, really important and it’s really, really good.”

‘All videos for the Talking Depression campaign can be viewed on the Janssen Ireland YouTube channel and The Little Book of Big Conversations can be accessed on the Janssen with Me website at
