Cork campaigner Stephen Teap pays respects to Vicky Phelan
Cork cervical cancer campaigner Stephen Teap has paid respects to Vicky Phelan.
The CervicalCheck campaigner said Ms. Phelan “defied all the odds and through her strength and courage became a national treasure honouring us all with her wisdom, love and great sense of humour.”
CEO of the Irish Cancer Society, Averil Power, says Vicky refused to be silent in the face of great personal challenges.
The CEO of the HSE, Stephen Mulvany, says Ireland has lost ‘a great advocate for women’s health’.
Meanwhile, Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has also paid tribute, describing her as ‘a shining example of the power of the human spirit’.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says she will leave a legacy which touched the lives of women and families affected by cervical cancer’.
