Cork County Council examining property on Cape Clear island in an effort to house refugees
The Government’s turning to sporting organisations to help house Ukrainian refugees.
The Business Post reports the FAI, GAA and IRFU have been asked for help, as 5,000 student beds are soon returning to college-use.
Meanwhile Cork County Council has been examining property on Cape Clear island in an effort to house refugees.
County Mayor, Councillor Danny Collins, says that’s a fantastic move:
“A lot of our islands, our population is dwindling. People like Ukrainian’s moving in there would be good for the schools and for the area, you know, it’s putting more life and vibrancy into the islands. You have a lot of properties and certain islands that are lying idle. So I will hope that our Government will look at this for the future.”
