Cork travel agent seeing huge increase in last minute holiday bookings
International travel restrictions were dropped in July following two summers of staycations, and now with 90% of people over the age of 16 fully vaccinated against Covid, the tourism industry is reporting greater confidence among travellers.
Cruises, Leaving Cert holidays and last minute sun breaks are among the top inquiries, with more business expected in the coming weeks after the US announced it would be allowing European and UK travellers into the country again in November.
Speaking to RedFM News, Managing Director of J Barter Travel in the city centre, Tom Randles, says he’s confident about the future:
“It’s great, you know, we’ve had a very tough 18 months, it’s gone from cancellations to rescheduling to making sure our clients get their money back. So it was a long 18 months. From a booking point of view, we’re nearly there and from a travel point of view, I think it will be early ’22 before we’re at the same levels as 2019.”
