COVID Restrictions Will Not Be Re-introduced Says Taoiseach Amid Rise In Hospitalisations

The HSE has moved to re-issue public health advice around Covid 19 as the latest figures show that hospitalisation from the virus have more than doubled in a month

Over 1400 people were in public hospitals with the virus, compared to less than 600 at the end of February

The Taoiseach has re-iterated that restrictions will not be re-introduced despite the fact that the country is battling another wave of the virus

The National Bus and Rail Union has called for masks to be made mandatory again on public transport and some health experts are urging people to wear face masks in confined places again such as shops and hospitality venues

Elective surgeries at hospitals in Cork and around the country have had to be cancelled in recent weeks as hospitals struggle to cope with growing numbers of Covid patients and staff absences

Speaking to RedFM News Dr Treasa Kelleher, specialist registrar in Public Health Medicine, says the HSE believe it’s timely to remind people of the public health advice around the virus
