A young Cork student who was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer says the Irish Cancer Society helped her hugely when she first got the shocking news.

MTU student 22 year old Jennifer Sheahan was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer in June 2022 and underwent six rounds of chemotherapy.

The Newmarket woman is now cancer free, but must undergo 12 rounds of immunotherapy as a preventative measure.

Today is the Irish Cancer Society's Daffodil Day which is a major fundraiser for the group.

Speaking to RedFM News, Jennifer outlines why it's worth supporting the charity today.

"They did an introduction to chemotherapy, and an information webinar all bout it.

"I got in touch with someone else through them who was able to answer all my questions, someone who had been through chemotherapy before. It was a really good support, and it's nice to have it there for people like me.

"Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, and it's really important to get behind the Irish Cancer Society."
