Dublin hotel prices could affect Ireland’s international reputation
The recent increase in hotel prices could affect the country’s reputation internationally, according to the Tourism Minister.
Catherine Martin says prices are now above pre-pandemic levels in the capital, and the Minister is also concerned about car-rental prices and delays at Dublin Airport.
Tourism Ireland is monitoring the effect these factors are having on Ireland’s reputation abroad.
The Minister says there’s a risk of damage to the tourism sector:
“Hotel supply in Dublin has been affected by a range of factors, some of them short term, these include different business from the last two years and increased demand. Businesses are also facing significant cost pressures due to inflation and other economic factors, all of which have contributed to higher prices than in 2019. It is important that Ireland maintains its reputation as a value for money destination, so that visitors are attracted back again and again to continue to recommend Ireland.”
