€55m in funding has been allocated to health projects across Cork.

It comes as the Tánaiste announced that 1 billion euro will be invested into the HSE Capital Plan 2023.

Cork University Hospital will receive €13.5m for a new 6 story block that will accommodate 58 critical care beds.

€1.5m has been allocated for pediatric services between the Mercy University Hospital and the CUH while the Carraig Mór Centre in Shanakiel will receive €7.4m in funding for the extension of 18 beds.

The rest of the funding will go towards community Healthcare projects across the city and county.
