Education Minister Norma Foley will hold a meeting with public health officials next Tuesday, in light of the growing numbers of Covid-19 infections.
It comes ahead of the planned reopening of schools next Thursday.
In a statement, the Minister said she recognises the huge importance of school for children and young people.
She said infection control measures are kept under constant review, and the the Department of Education is continuing to engage with public health officials over the holiday period.
