Eviction Ban Ends

The eviction ban has ended.

The move comes despite repeated warnings from housing organisations that it could lead to a surge in homelessness – something the government rejects.

In Dublin a protest at the ending of the ban will take place outside the Dail from 1pm today – where protestors will also highlight concerns over the ‘cost of living’ crisis.

Speaking to RedFM News, Southern Regional Manager at Threshold in Cork, Edel Conlon says people facing eviction need to use the supports that are there:

“If you receive a Notice of Termination or you have a Notice of Termination which is expiring, it’s important to check in with Threshold to get that notice checked. It’s really important as well that you communicate with Cork City Council or Cork County Council and let them know of your situation and that you may require emergency accommodation. And also to let friends and family know that you’re in this situation, because what we find in Threshold is a lot of the time it’s through word of mouth that people source accommodation”.
