It's feared global warming could see temperatures rise by as much as 3 degrees by 2030.
Scientists say emissions need to be halved in the next decade to hold rises to 1.5 degrees.
A new report by the world's leading climate experts is due to be published this afternoon.
Former President of Ireland, and leading climate activist Mary Robinson says there's huge potential to prevent further climate change, but the current forecast is disastrous.
"It's a paradox. We are literally on the cusp of a cleaner, healthier, fairer world.
"We can get there, but we are headed for a 2.4 degrees of warming at best. 2.4 degrees if all the governments, corporations did everything they have currently promised.
"It's most likely to be a 3 degrees increase, which would be catastrophic."
