Felling of 250 year old tree in Kinsale postponed following community concerns.

The felling of a tree in Kinsale has been postponed due to concerns expressed by the local community.

The 250 year old beech tree is on the grounds of the Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre, and was due to be felled tomorrow.

The state insurer IPB said the tree posed an ‘unacceptable risk’ due to its precarious location on the edge of a cliff and the Outdoor Education Centre had been given a deadline of October last year to remove the tree or be uninsured.

The felling of the tree tomorrow has been postponed to allow for more community dialogue, and to examine other potential solutions.
