Firefighters tackled a fire affecting a row of six houses in Knocknaheeny last night.

6 units of Cork City Fire Brigade were alerted to the blaze on Ardmore Avenue just before 9PM.

Cork City Fire bridage say 3 dereclict houses in the row were affected with 2 of the houses well alight.

One of the houses in the row of 6 was smoke logged.

It is understood that a family lived in one of the other houses that was unaffected on the row and local councillors say they will be moved to temporary accomodation.

The family were due to be moved next week as the houses were scheduled to be demolished as part of the regeneration project.

No injuries have been reported in the fire and fire fighters were stood down after midnight.
