First four contestants announced for next series of Strictly Come Dancing

The first four contestants for the next series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing have been announced.

McFly band member and author Tom Fletcher was the first celebrity to be revealed on BBC’s One Show. Fletcher, who has also written songs for the likes of One Direction and Busted, expressed his excitement and nervousness in taking part in the upcoming series. Tom should be able to get plenty of advice from his other McFly band member Harry Judd who won the dancing reality show in 2011.

The next personality to be announced as a contestant was actor and comedian Robert Webb who is probably best known as Jez in Peep Show where he stars alongside David Mitchell. 48-year-old Webb also regularly appears on shows such as Never Mind The Buzzcocks, QI and Have I Got News For You.

Next up is TV presenter AJ Odudu. Odudu has reported backstage for The Voice UK and more recently appeared on Cooking With The Stars. The 33-year-old also produced a documentary called Manhunting With My Mum In Nigeria. AJ is also a qualified personal trainer and sports nutritionist and was appointed as contributing editor to Grazia magazine this year.

The final contestant to be confirmed so far for the upcoming series is John Whaite. John is no stranger to reality shows, winning The Great British Bake Off in 2012 and now presents a weekly cooking segment on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch. The 33-year-old chef will make up half of the first ever all male partnership on the show, following in the footsteps of boxer Nicola Adams was half of the first female same-sex dance pairing with professional dancer Katya Jones last year.
