A former Director of Military Intelligence says a secret Anglo-Irish agreement on Ireland’s airspace is more beneficial to the UK.

An agreement was drafted in the early 1950s when relations between the West and the Soviet Union were at a low point.

The pact permits British aircraft to operate in Irish airspace, and would even allow them to use lethal force if needed.
