A former Indian legislator has been shot dead live on TV.
Atiq Ahmad was once jailed for kidnapping and was also facing murder and assault charges.
He and his brother were being filmed on their way to a medical check up in Uttar Pradesh state when they were targeted by three men on motorbikes posing as journalists.
The gunmen later surrendered.
