Appeals for witnesses following an armed robbery in Cork

At around five to four on Thursday afternoon, two masked men entered the post office section of a shop in Ballinhassig – one armed with a shotgun, and other with a machete – and demanded a sum of cash from staff.

The men fled the scene in a grey Citroen C3, which is believed to have been driven by a third man.

The car was subsequently set on fire in a field near Spur Hill at around 4.20pm – anyone who saw the car on fire is asked to contact Gardaí.
