Gardai searching an area near holy well in connection with murder of Miriam Burns

Gardaí are searching an area near a holy well outside Killarney, County Kerry, in connection with the murder of grandmother Miriam Burns.

The 75-year-old mother of four was found dead at her home on Monday – a man in his 50s has been arrested and a murder investigation is ongoing.

It’s believed the man was known to the victim – Gardaí are searching for clothing or material from the area which may be connected to the killing

Ralph Riegel, Southern Correspondent with the Independent, says forensic officers are supporting the search:

“That man was arrested within minutes of Gardaí confirming that they were treating the death of Miriam Burns, grandmother and a mother of four, as murder. No today’s searches focused are on land around this holy well, and it’s believed that Gardaí are searching for clothing and other material, which may be linked to the circumstances of Mrs. Burns death.”
