Government Proposals On Working From Home Set To Be Overhauled

Government proposals on working from home are set to be overhauled.
It’s expected employees’ rights to request remote working will be strengthened.
A worker’s right to appeal the decision to the Workplace Relations Commission is also likely to be enhanced.
Maeve Mc Elwee from employer’s body IBEC doesn’t believe a one-size-fits-all approach is the best way of dealing with the issue:
“It’s going to be a ‘test and perfect’ period when we say, actually it doesn’t even work at an organisational level, it’s coming down to team levels, so for the government trying to introduce a single piece of legislation that’s going to be put in force in every organisation is very, very challenging”.
